β€œI've always appreciated reading and literature,” says MJ. β€œThe writing education, experience, and feedback I've gotten in the Associate of Arts Degree program have made me a stronger writer. I even had one of my short stories published in Beside the Point (a journal produced by students).”

β€œOne of the benefits of being at college is how nice it is to not be lost in a sea of strangers all of the time.”

As a student with a disability, MJ knew they’d need accommodations to be successful in post-secondary education. β€œCamosun’s Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) was more than helpful,” says MJ. β€œThey got me an appointment for a neuro-assessment to evaluate my needs, as well as helping secure government funding to cover the cost of being assessed, all before I was even enrolled!”

He’s made good friends in his program and from other Camosun programs. β€œIt's great how the campus culture is so welcomingβ€”I regularly stop and chat with former classmates and professors when I see them around,” says MJ. β€œOne of the benefits of being at college is how nice it is to not be lost in a sea of strangers all of the time.”
