Leadership on energy through significant emission reductions, modeling energy efficient buildings, and educating the future renewable energy experts of B.C.
The B.Cc Government, through its CleanBC plan, is committed to lowering climate-changing emissions by 40% by 2030
Under B.C.’s Carbon Neutral Government (CNG) program – legislated under the and the (CNGR). All provincial public sector organizations (PSOs), including 鶹Լ, must be carbon neutral.
PSOs follow a five-step process to achieve carbon neutrality:
- Measuregreenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from buildings, vehicles and paper use.
- Reduceemissions by lowering fossil fuel, electricity, paper and refrigerant consumption.
- Offsetremaining emissions by purchasing high-quality, made-in-B.C. carbon offsets.
- Reportannually through the PSO Climate Change AccountabilityReport (PSO CCAR).
- Verifydata and emissions.
The CCAA and CNGR require that all PSOs prepare and make public an annual Climate Change Accountability Report, documenting their organization’s emissions and offsets, the actions they have taken to reduce emissions, and their plans to reduce future emissions.
